The "Hard Site" and the Failure of "Intelligence" at Abu Ghraib

The hard site was a specific area of Abu Ghraib, were the intelligence cells were at, as well as the criminal, and the insane, which was in Tier 1A. Also there was the most secure section, and that’s where the women and children were held at, which was Tier 1B. The hard site was described as a “high security” unit of Abu Ghraib. According to one soldier who was assigned to the hard site, there were six or seven guards, with a thousand detainees that they were responsible for. Some of these detainees included the world’s most dangerous terrorist, and according to one soldier that worked there, he described them as the “lowest scum of the earth.”

When it came to collecting intelligence, officers were coming up empty handed. Some intelligence officers claimed that most of the people being held were at the wrong place at the wrong time. With the lack of intelligence coming out of the interrogations, the officers became fed up, because a year had gone by, and for the most part they came up with nothing.
